Abstract

This study aims to explore parents' perspectives on their children's participation in soccer. Thirty parents with children actively participating in soccer were selected as participants. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with semi-structured interviews and participant observation to collect data. The results showed that most parents positively supported their children's soccer participation, citing the physical, social, and life skills development benefits. However, some parents also faced challenges related to time, cost, and competitive pressure in the sport. While most parents did not perceive a conflict between academic education and sports, there were concerns about the negative impact of soccer on children's academic achievement. This study revealed that while the majority of parents strongly supported their children's soccer participation, practical challenges such as cost and competitive pressure need to be addressed to create a healthier and more enjoyable experience for children in the sport.
